Artist Bio
When I enter my studio and put that first stroke to the canvas, I am reminded that through my art I continue to grow and learn. The right side of my brain doesn’t know age; it is filled with excitement and wonder. This, I believe, is what makes me tick as an artist and why, though I’m in my seventies, I still feel a need to produce and show my work.
Majoring in Art at the University of Wisconsin-Superior in the 1960s, I obtained a strong foundation in art history, classical oil painting, and drawing. Following graduation it was my privilege to be an art teacher for many years in public schools in Wisconsin, most notably the Pulaski school system, until my retirement.
Although trained to paint and draw representationally, I’m best known for a non-objective approach in my work. It comes from a place that is not acknowledging any recognizable subject, just putting line and color on the canvas and letting it tell me what it wants to do. I am inspired by my photography, my travels, and my family. My work has been shown in various venues, including Artstreet in Green Bay, WI.
I live and work in Green Bay, WI, where I humbly admit that I am still growing and learning.
